Lyle's Black Treacle 454 Tin
This quintessentially British product was first introduced in 1950 by the Tate & Lyle's company who also produce Lyle's Golden Syrup.
Treacle is made from the syrup that remains during the refining of sugar and is a popular sweetener used in cooking, especially confectionery, breads, cakes and biscuits and as a condiment.
Treacle is similar to molasses but thicker and with a stronger taste. It has a slightly burnt caramel flavour.
